A picture speaks a thousand words... or 20,000

I find this bumper sticker on my friend Jenny's car hysterical... but I am Canadian after all!
I figured after all my depressing posts, something a little more lighthearted was in order. Thanks for all your words of support... I left a quick thankyou on the post about Mama B.

Haha! I love this. What would moose taste like I wonder? Venison? I'm afraid I'd try almost anything once. There are exceptions, but I won't list them because they involve real cruelty.

Most exotic things I've eaten so far: snake (chickeny), smoked emu (needed less smoke and more emu), eel (a bit chewy), snails (rubber garlic), buffalo (tough but well flavoured) and kangaroo (which I like a lot, and is the only one of these I've eaten more than once).

Sorry to gross out the vegetarians amongst us. Should have stuck to laughing at the moose sticker.

Hahaha!..is that moose as in big hairy creature that defies gravity with its big body and thin legs that stands all startled when confronted by a car headlight hurling towards it or moose as in that gooeey stuff like thick icecream?..

Hi Stevie,
back in my allosaurus days (I am now a brontosaurus, according to a wise 6 year-old who is now back home), I tasted raw moose and caribou from a friend who worked way up north. It was a bit chewy, but tasty.

Moose is lovely when prepared well, and nicely marinated aned roasted can be melt int he mouth tender.. but it takes a careful cook! It is not that far off of venison Margie... I've never had emu, but I think I had ostrich once. And I've had alligator ("read my lips: AL-EE-GA-TOR.." said Kermit the Frog) ... wasn't really all that excited about it! Hmmm, had bear, not so great, caribou, elk, deer (mule and white-tail), duck and goose. As far as winged creatures go, I am pretty faithful to chicken and turkey, I have to say. I've done snails, not so great, but do enjoy well prepared octopus.
Kangaroo more than once? What's it like?
Gyps: the moose is the hary defying gravity kind that rushes trains head on... not a terribly bright species...
Anne-Marie, when did you morph into an allosaurus??? What are you doing late next week? And Lesley, we have to see if we can hook up while you are at your parents cabin... didn't you say it was just a half hour or so from Ottawa?
Dale, you carnivore you! Quite the impressive list though, I must say!

geez, think I could have read that last one over before I posted it? Holy typos Batman....

Stevie, I became an allosaurus in 1990, but continued to eat fish until 2002. Now, I am completely meat-free (keep those smutty thoughts!!) but I do indulge in cheese and eggs and the like.

At the end of next week (the 18th?) I will be in Port Dover for their Cornfest. Blue Rodeo is playing and I am hoping to spend the rest of the weekend by the sea and sand. Is that the weekend you are in Ottawa, or am I mixing up the dates?

I prefer mousse!

mousse... or mouse? Did you ever read Never Cry Wolf?

Too funny... Moosen! Ask Hayley about Moosen.

I, however, had mousse tonight! And cow - prime rib of cow to be precise. My sweetie took me out to dinner so I wouldn't blubber anymore today. Now I'm too stuffed to blubber...

Snake does taste like chicken (but does it count as meat?); and snails (meat?) are wonderful IF cooked correctly with mushrooms and garlic...tried squid three times and found it much like chewing rubber bands (don't ask :)

My dad used to hunt squirrels when I was a kid. We ate the little tree rats, I suppose so as not to hurt Dad's feelings; but they were tough and kind of stringy...Mom tried to make them better, but ultimately Dad just stopped hunting them.

Never Cry Wolf? That's probably why the Moosen get eaten...

What a good hubby Randy is!
I am VERY curious about how you know what chewing on rubber bands is like.... sounds like there is a story here...

The only dessert that I will trip over myself to tackle is Chocolate Mousse...

*LOL* I have to say I have never tasted moose myself....I have this thing with meat where I'll only eat from 3 groups - poultry (chicken or turkey), beef or pork (and rarely pork, even)....that's it. Everything else I call 'fringe meats'. *L* I'm sure wolves do find it tasty, though!
