We had a joint birthday party on Saturday for Hayley and Karen, our dear friend and soon to be ex-landlord! Hayley turns 14 tomorrow (Sept. 3) and on Sept. 1 Karen turned 40. We're having a family party for Hayley on her actual birthday tomorrow, but so many of my family members were leaving (the younger ones all heading to university again) we wanted to have a party with them as well. So... we did!
Click on the photos for a better view!

The kids all hung out on the tramp and were... well.. kids! This is their "goofy" pose.

This is Hayley's friend Amanda... they've been pal-ing around the past couple of summers and Hayley went camping with her and her family this weekend right after the joint birthday party.

This is Tanja, Karen, Jill and my sister Sharon (in front). Tanja flew in to surprise Karen, another reason for the weekend party... as if we needed another one!

Karen and Joe... our extended family. We've been through a lot together over the past eight years. Sure glad we're not moving too far away.

"You have one more bite before cake missy..." This is Karen's three-year-old daughter Trinda.

Make a wish!

The birthday girls!

Lovely photo of Ian in the last post, and so many beautiful, happy faces here. What richness!

It's a great time to celebrate Stevie, and I'm so happy for you. You're one who knows the true value of good friends, and I'm still thrilled about the house, whatever you end up calling it.

(We have a dream to build a house on top of the hill down at our place on the coast. As it's just an elusive dream at this stage but one to be pursued, we call it "The Hilly Grail".)

Oooh, I made up that icing for the cake when I was shopping... probably been done by others already, but it did come out nice...I whipped cream cheese fluffy, added half can of cherry pie filling, whipped it some more, then folded in whipped cream.
It was whipping, it was.

Kansas will suit you...

It's a bittersweet feeling for me, as I'm trying to sell our own home. It's not easy.

I love the photo of Karen and Joe!

Hilly Grail. Whoop! LMAO and Amen! On with the quest....clopclop clopclop clopclop...

Stevie, you switched pictures....now that one must join my iPhoto collection, too!

It looks like it was a wonderful party! Hayley says she had a great time and I can sure tell she did from the photos.

It puts my heart at ease that she is doing so well. It's all very good for her, as I know this entire experience of living with you and her dad this next year will be....but damn I miss her!

Karen looks so YOUNG!

...and just wondering...was there any cake under that yummy frosting?

Your sister is a dead ringer- just needs a new hairdo!

Ian does look great in the last post, and it's always nice to see so many happy faces.

What a fun time Stevie. The kids look so happy and your friends too. No need to say happy birthday to Hayley and Karen, cos it's clear that they were...happy, that is!

I always have this feeling that you live in such a close commnity there, and that much of that is down to you dear. You draw people to you, and that is a great gift.

Great idea for a great day Stevie. Bless you!

Hey, "ex-landlord" has a nice wring to it. Even if he is a good friend, good to be moving under your own roof.

Are there like, Pilgrim Settlements in the woods? And Buffalo by the lake?
