my day away...

As my rent was just raised, I needed to have my self indulgant day.... a push for a look at buying a house...
So, my anything is possible fantasy...

so I started things off with tea and conversations with the Dalai Lama, a meditation with his holiness, then off to take photos on the African Savannah until lunch... of course I would get brilliant wildlife images. Then, lunch in Bombay (is it still Bombay?) and shopping in the bazaars for a few hours. Lots of good natured bartering, bolts of cloth, sweets, spices, and all the while taking photos of the beautiful faces around me... all my purchases would be toted along for me by some wonderful person I hired whom I would pay ridiculously well. Afternoon tea would be in Margie's fantasy English cottage's garden, at which all of you would be joining us. Tea would followed by the Gypsy fair, which would consist of even more than horses, and we would all go and eat lovely tidbits, and have our fortunes told by a wonderful ancient gypsy woman, and dance to fiddles and tamborines and laugh and laugh and laugh. Of course, lots of photos. Then, off to an Italian spa for a massage, a foot rub, and have my hair (which will be long and glorious) done, so I can find a lovely Italian cafe for a late dinner... I would sit alone with a book, sip Pinot Noir and have the most gloriously handsome young waiter treat me like the only guest there, and a perfect espresso for dessert. (Okay, that bit I really did get to experience, in downtown Vancouver at a lovely place called Capri 19, and the handsome young waiter was told by his flamboyantly gay maitre de, with whom I had been giggling and visiting with after he admired my amethyst pendant, that I was to have a seat at the open air window as I was the most beautiful woman in Gastown that night... totally made my weekend, even if it was over the top! I therefore did get the most spectacular service I have ever had and soaked it all in). After dinner, I would be off to London to see an opera, which I have always wanted to do, dressed, of course, to the nines (in my fantasy, I just happen to have the perfect outfit for every occasion right at my fingertips). My balcony seat would offer the most advantageous view. It would of course by then be somewhere near midnight... time for late night tea and lunch in Russia with my friend Yulia, who lives in Kalinigrad, and a long visit as we stroll along the moonlit Baltac Sea. Getting close to the dawn of the final hours of my day, I would whisk away to Sri Lanka, to the home of my friend Neeranga, and watch the sun rise with her and her family, drinking tea laced with spices and milk... then home at once to curl up in bed, nestled close to my Ian and knowing my children are all three safe in their rooms, knowing my self indulgent day was just for me... and they can all come to the next one...

So, anyone else plotted out their day other than me, Darling Lovley Kori and Madam Margie? I have to do the rounds and see!

I love the trip around the world, although I am assuming we're using Star Trek transporter technology here rather than wasting time on planes.

Bombay is now officially called Mumbai (My brother was there in January, which is how I know).

Me, I'd be happy with a beach, a book or two, and some great waves on a hot, sunny day.

Oh Wow Stevie - this is a goodie. Something for the soul, something for each of the the senses. Really nice balance, and beautifully exotic. Oops, nearly typed erotic instead. Must have been Freudally affected by Johnny's reappearance.

The only thing I'd quibble with is the Pinot Noir. Despite the best efforts of friends of mine who are Pinot growers and drink nothing else, I'm still more of a Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz girl, but hey - it's your fantasy, and of course the wine will be perfect!

Now I must dash - if you're all coming over for afternoon tea in my garden, I'd better rustle up a decent rich fruit cake and some muffins!

Please do Koos! And Margie, can we also have cucumber sandwiches with tea?
Thanks Anne-Marie! My neice and I were waffling over the Bombay/Mumbai thing! And of course we are usuing Star Trek transporters! I can't wait until they invent those!
Val, I will patiently await your trip!
Gyspy, bring on the Noir Sham-Pain!

Steph, you are one travelling girl!

The Dahli Lama, Bombay (I don't know if it still is...), Africa, London, Vancouver...all in one day.

I love the idea of a perfect outfit for every occasion - I seem to own only jeans and t-shirts.

I can't wait to meet for tea at Margie's cottage!

I think Stevie has a secret Doctor Who Tardis!..

Cucumber sandwiches at the ready Stevie, in industrial quantities, as will be the tea. My personal blend is now two parts English Breakfast, one part Earl Grey, but being the perfect host I will of course provide anything you want. That is, until I move on to Gypsy's Noir Shampain, then it's every man for himself!

Dear dear Stevie, I am officially signed off from blogging, but I just wanted to say quickly that I love this post and the way it has inspired the others. I've been a bad blogger lately and I'm truly sorry, as I've missed several of your posts.

I guess I'll be missing some more for the enxt few weeks too, but this is to say bye bye and also to say I've left a comment on your last post about the hate thing.

what do you make of this live earth business then?

Wow, you are a world traveller during your day! I have assumed you would have invented a way to nod your head and instantaneously be in your next destination... who would want to waste travelling time on their perfect day?? :)

My perfect day.....I have to think about it.....of course, it would involve a crap load of shopping....

Dale said...

So Steph...you've been gone longer than 24 hours, btw.

Stevie - I read on Lannio's blog that your ideal home would have a huge library. Mine too. Dark wood, with a set of those moving steps for the high shelves. Big fireplace, lots of comfy, full-length feather-cushioned sofas, Persian rugs on the floor, cashmere ones to snuggle up under, lots of warm colours and good reading lights. Also a window to look out on the wind and sleet while I'm cosily ensconced in heaven. Think Henry Higgins but more decadent.

What's yours like?

I have the Jonny Depp DVD! The Man Who Cried!..i'll watch it this weekend as I won't see my own gypsy boy Neil till next week..:0(

You lucky dawg to be in Kananaskis! But, the possible good news is that I maybe travelling out there for work in the Fall. Yippie, close to youse guys again!

Tonight especially, I really need to be around friends!

Stevie said...

Oh lesley, are you okay? You can call if you like... and if you are going to be here in the fall, I think we need to do it up right! Could use a friend night myself right about now.
Gypsy, make darn sure you have a warm blanky, maybe some hankies, and lots of nibbly treats... you'll have all the eye candy you can handle!

Dale said...

I watched "The Man Who Cried" last week!

I am now starring in "The Woman Who Cried"...
