Hello from edmonton... and the conference with like 350 screaming, horny teenagers... I have such a headache! Hope you are all well! I am checking in but have little time to comment! Love you all, S
Hello Stevie from Edmonton. Hope the headache's not only from work! What are these conferences about? Be interesting to know...be brave, be strong and have some fun too! xx
Hey Val! This particular one is called CYIAD: Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving. Holy f#*k, has there been some seriously powerful presentations at this thing. Next week is TYPS, which stands for Town Strategies for Youth Participation, directed to youth centre like mine. At this one, I have to say, they are doing an amazing job getting kids pumped up... I have never heard such a variety of cheers, nor the decible at which they are being done, in my life!
He he, Stevie, this sounds like stirring stuff...I don't know about the horny teenagers bit, but I could take a bet you're pretty good at getting them going too!
PS, I like the little ribbon on your Meez's top! Is it a coincidence or is it meant to be an aids ribbon?
Wow, what an experience to partake in these events - headache or not. Working with youth is one of the most important jobs a person can have. Hopefully you get lots of great stuff from these events to take home to that great community in that valley of yours.
Hi guys Home again finally, for a few days! Oh and I just realized I screwed up the acronym translation for TYPS. It is Town Youth Participation Strategies. I put the strategies in the wrong spot up top! And yes Val, that is an AIDS ribbon on my meez tee-shirt. I work a lot with ANKORS, which is AIDS/Hep C outreach. Well, I don't do as much as I used to when I was a journalist, but I am still handing out condoms and talking to the youth at the centre (among other places) about safer sex, proper use of a condoms, yadda yadda. I am sort of like a safer sex info kiosk. How bad does that sound! LOL! Lesley, it was an amazing conference. I am in Cornwall this week. What side of Toronto are you on? If I was going to have a car I'd say let's meet half way for lunch! Anne-Marie, I only managed one quick bath... the had us going literally from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day. But this next trip, darn right I will have more bathtime! Gypsy, I showed your video to a couple of the kids, and even though they are not in our blog circle, they thought is was funny, especially the Bermuda Triangle! Ian, sorry you had such a time with the exhibition entries... but I do like your choice. That oak is my favorite of the Sherwood series. Ok, have to unpack, do laundry and get into town to download some photos. can't do it from that camera to this computer! I'll post a shot of the kids dressed to the nines for the dance last night. It was a James Bond Theme (CYIAD 2-007!) and they looked fabulous!
I made it! FOUR ENTIRE DAYS with teens, and not one smoke! Or Red Bull! Today is day five! Well, I don't promise never to have another red bull, but I am determined I am once again and forever a non-smoker. Dale, I love the idea of graffiti alley... it needs to happen.
I live in central Toronto - only a couple of blocks from Maple Leaf Gardens. I work in the West End. How long are you in Cornwall? So close, yet so far ...
This week-end there's a party in my honour on Saturday night and then on Sunday I have a concert that I'm singing in.
I got my coins through answering an on line questionaire. All five of them, - but enough to buy an easel. That's when my meez expired, but the site seems okay now.
Hi Stevie...lol...I had to laugh over your comment on my blog..I love the idea of you reading Dutch with great confidence and aplomb..you are a one off! Hoping you are having a lovely Easter weekend, love. the weather here is great for once, so I am doing such much needed painting and scraping on my precious barge. Hugs to you xxx
Happy easter eggy-wegs to you.. looked on my step with great antici-----pation this morning..still no sign of easter bunny..rumour has it the gypsys shot him and had him for sunday lunch..in a pie..:(..
hey Rache... yup, working is a bit of a lifestyle these days, for us both! But in a few weeks, after this damn camp is done, I hope to take some time off. Ian's new reporter arrives this week... keep everything crossed that she works out. Tomorrow I am off, making an Easter dinner for mum, kids and Ian, and likely my ex, so we will all be around in the late afternoon and evening (well I should be here all day being domestic, but Ian won't be off work until afternoon sometime). Hope you had a splendid day hunting for eggs and chocolate! Love, Stevie ps And yes, I WAS blogging at work! Hee hee!
